Mountain Travel & Rescue Courses

2007-2008 Schedule

Mountain Travel & Rescue Course (MTR) Level 1 and II are being offered this season. It is not necessary to pre-register for either course.  Registration is available on the day of the course.

The classroom for both of the Classroom Sessions is 3300 Newport Ave. in Newport Beach.  This is the City of Newport Beach Building and we will be in Council’s Chambers.  Free parking is found along Finley. (Note: These will be the only classrooms offered for this season.)

MTR I Classroom and Field Trip Dates and Times

Classroom: 11/17 – 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Field Trip Dates: 1/26-1/27, 2/9-2/10 and 3/1-3/2

(One Field Trip Session Required per Student)

Locations to be announced and are weather dependent.

MTR II Classroom and Field Trip Dates and Times

Classroom: 11/17-11/18 – 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Field Trip Dates: 2/19-2/20 Joshua Tree

3/14-3/16 Location to be Determined and is weather dependent.

(Both of these field trips are required for each student.)

Here are directions if you are not familiar with Newport Beach:
The MTR II is a classroom all weekend and it is in Newport beach city
hall. The address is 3300 Newport Blvd which is at the end of the 55
freeway 2nd signal past coast highway. Turn Left on Finley Ave and the
Parking is in the lot to your right or park along the block wall. The
class is in the Council chambers which faces Newport blvd. You will see
some trailers in the front lawn. Take the sidewalk between the main
building and the trailers and you will see the Council chambers. Once
inside the front door, the classroom is to the left. MTR I is in the
main room.
