Patrollers are the first on the hill and the last off. A typical patrol season will require a patroller to spend every-other to every-third weekend on the hill. While there is some latitude in scheduling once training is complete, a typical patroller will put in 16-18 weekend days a season patrolling, plus another 2-4 days for refresher training and advanced courses. A typical patrol day begins at the 7:00 am sign-in and ends with the 5:00 pm sweep. (excluding Miller-time)
Returning Patrollers bid for a schedule that matches their availability and convenience. Priority in scheduling is given to those that provide the higher number of patrol days in the preceding season.
